`Shadowrun Returns' Released, and Pretty Good Fun

I've only been playing it for a couple of hours, but so far `Shadowrun
Returns' seems pretty good, but very linear --- not much freedom in what
you do in the first few hours. Hopefully it opens up a little as the
game progresses.

Anyone else playing it?

Not I, although I'm fairly tickled that such a thing exists. I played
paper-and-dice Shadowrun only a few times when I was a kid, but I sunk
many hours into the Sega Genesis game. This revamp looks pretty good
from the little bit I've looked around the website. Thanks for the heads-up!

I never played the Genesis version, but I played the SNES one and sort
of enjoyed it once I came to terms with its ludicrous difficulty and
frustrating control scheme. This new version is definitely easier to
play, and pretty good. I've played about five hours now, and I'm still
enjoying it; it's no less linear than it was at the start, and I
sometimes wonder if my replies actually make any difference to the
course of a conversation, but it's fun.

Yeah loving it so far. Really hope some good DLC or UGC comes along.

The inability to save mid-mission is a poor design choice; my decker
died after about 45 minutes of play in a mission, forcing me to restart
from scratch. It hasn't killed the game for me completely, but it's
pretty discouraging. I don't have the time or patience for that sort of
punishing mechanic these days.

I'm quite looking forward to seeing what the community comes up with,
though.

All valid points and I hope they fix them! On Reddit I got down voted for
saying it was to buggy...
